Tori Marko
Research Assistant
Tori Marko joined the Surette lab in 2018 as a Research Laboratory Technician after completing her M.Sc. with Dr. Lori Burrows in 2017. She also did her B.Sc. at McMaster, majoring in Molecular Biology and Genetics with a minor in Psychology. Tori has always been fascinated with bacteria and the underlying mechanisms for how they can cause disease. She is currently working to culture interesting and difficult-to-isolate bacteria from gut microbiome samples, using MALDI-TOF and PCR-based identification methods to aid in her quest. In her spare time, Tori enjoys painting, making agar art, and Instagramming her cats, Porter and Stout.
