Michael G. Surette is Professor of Medicine and Biochemistry, and Canada Research Chair in Interdisciplinary Microbiome Research in the Farncombe Family Digestive Health Research Institute and Michael G. DeGroote Institute for Infectious Disease Research at McMaster University. Dr. Michael Surette obtained his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at Memorial University of Newfoundland and his PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Western Ontario. His post-graduate research at Princeton University was on bacterial chemotaxis followed by a faculty position in the Department of Microbiology and Infectious Disease at the University of Calgary, where he's currently an Adjunct Professor. In addition, he is Director of the McMaster Genomics Facility.
