Shahrokh Shekarriz
Sharok completed his undergrad in molecular biology and came to McMaster in September 2014 to do a Master’s in Bioinformatics under the supervision of Dr. Golding in the department of biology. Sharok joined the Surette lab in December 2016 as a research assistant for one year. Subsequently, he started his Ph.D. in January 2018 to pursue his interest in utilizing microbiome profiling, comparative metagenomics, and culture-enriched metagenomics to investigate the human gut microbiome. He’s working on developing a bioinformatic technique to detect microbial engraftment in fecal transplants for patients with ulcerative colitis.
