Eugene is investigating emergence and mechanisms of multi-drug resistant microorganisms in patients receiving prophylactic antibiotic therapy. By working with an extensive library of longitudinal patient samples, he hopes to further elucidate the complex interactions regulating AMR development and nosocomial pathogen evolution within patients.
